Fitz Smoak, CAIA

Fitz joined Homrich Berg as an Investment Analyst in February 2022. He works on the direct indexing and dividend strategies and is also a generalist across the investments department. Prior to Homrich Berg, Fitz worked in the Analytics division of Nasdaq covering hedge funds. He is a member of the CAIA Chapter of Atlanta and graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Finance and a minor in Economics.

Fitz grew up in Brookhaven and now lives in Buckhead. In his free time, he enjoys fly fishing and golf.

Sarah Hipp Hauptman

Sarah Hauptman is a Director of Real Estate at Homrich Berg.  Most recently, she was Senior Vice President at Iron Tree Capital Partners in Atlanta, GA, where she managed a portfolio of industrial properties and worked on new business initiatives.  Prior to that, she was a Vice President in Banner Oak Capital Partners in Dallas, TX, where she oversaw the expansion of investments with new operating partners across all commercial real estate asset classes.  Previously, Sarah was Director of Investment Management at Compatriot Capital, focusing on originating and managing investments in best-in-class real estate operating companies.  Earlier in her career, she worked at E2M Partners, a real estate fund manager that provided JV limited partner equity for single asset investments. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and CREW Atlanta.

Sarah graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. from Georgetown University with a major in both Economics and Mathematics.

Adam Heffner

Adam joined Homrich Berg as a Investment Administrative Specialist in October 2021. He previously worked as a National Account Manager for a trade show I&D company and as a Business Process Specialist payroll processing company. He graduated Cum Laude from Kennesaw State with a Political Science degree & Legal Studies minor.

In his free time he enjoys watching and attending motorsport events. His favorite trip was passing through the Panama Canal.

Kaitlyn Sinnott

Kaitlyn joined Homrich Berg in March 2019 and currently serves as a Senior Specialist of Fund Administration. Kaitlyn is involved in relationship management, acting as a liaison between investment managers and Homrich Berg’s client service teams. She also works on fund accounting and administration for Homrich Berg’s internal funds of funds. Prior to HB, she worked at the State Board of Administration for five years as an Accountant. She graduated from Flagler College in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Kaitlyn lives in Woodstock with her husband Greg and their son William. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and watching University of Florida football.

Brigid Cochran

Brigid joined Homrich Berg in 2006 and serves as Manager of Alternative Investment Administration in the firm’s Investment Department. Brigid is responsible for relationship management, acting as the liaison between investment managers and Homrich Berg’s client service teams. She oversees the subscription process for internal and external private alternatives and acts as a point of contact for outside fund managers. Brigid serves on several in-house committees, overseeing procedures to further institutionalize the firm.

Brigid earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Mercer University. While in college she was an active member of the Alpha Iota chapter of Phi Mu. Prior to working at Homrich Berg, Brigid worked as a Communications Specialist with Coca Cola.

In her free time, Brigid enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as event planning.

Krista Koch

Krista joined Homrich Berg in 2004 and has 17 years’ experience working in the firm’s investment department. Krista serves as Manager of Fund Administration, overseeing the day to day operations for Homrich Berg’s private alternative partnerships and managing key relationships with the third party administrator, auditor, and custodians. Krista’s responsibilities include managing the fund accounting, reviewing quarterly valuations and annual financial statements, analyzing funding requirements, and assisting in new fund start-up activities.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and living Intown.

Andrew Pratt, CFA

Andrew joined Homrich Berg in 2012 after interning with the firm for almost a year. He currently focuses on domestic equity research and helps manage various HB proprietary public equity and asset allocation strategies. He also assists with research and due diligence on individual fixed income securities, updating and maintaining the firms’ broadly recommended investment models, and leading the response efforts to HB’s clients’ equity and portfolio allocation requests. Prior to HB, Andrew previously worked for a construction management firm for three years as a field engineer.

Andrew earned a MBA in Finance from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Georgia Tech. He is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society Atlanta.

Andrew lives in Roswell with his wife Caitlin and daughters Charlotte, Cecilia, and Clara. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, attending Georgia Tech athletic events, and watching the Atlanta Braves and Falcons.

Adam Shealy, CFA

Adam joined Homrich Berg in June 2015 and is currently a Director within the Investment department managing the trading and portfolio management for individual bond strategies, as well as research and due diligence for external fixed income managers.

Adam earned his MBA in Global Business from Georgia Tech and is a member of the CFA Institute. Prior to joining HB, he worked as a Platinum Executive Services Specialist with E*Trade Securities.

Adam lives in East Cobb with his wife Christine, two kids Graham and Sutton, and he enjoys golf and powerlifting in his spare time.

Mary Kendall Durrance

Mary Kendall joined Homrich Berg as an Operations Specialist in January 2018. She works in alternative investment management with a focus on family office clients. Prior to HB, she worked at an investment advisory firm for two years as an Investment Marketing Associate. She graduated from Florida State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science, double majoring in Finance and Marketing.

In her free time, Mary Kendall volunteers with the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House and enjoys time with friends and family, traveling and watching Florida State football.

Sean Hendler, CPA

Sean joined Homrich Berg in April 2013 after graduating from the University of New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in both Accounting and Business Administration.  Prior to joining Homrich Berg, Sean worked at Bain, Freibaum & Co., a CPA firm in the New Orleans area, specializing in Taxation. Sean completed his Master’s degree in Professional Accountancy at Georgia State University and is a Licensed CPA.

In his current role, Sean oversees the Alternative Investment Administration and Reporting functions.

Sean lives in Sandy Springs with his wife, Golda and dog, Shosh. In his spare time he enjoys live music, traveling, movies, and New Orleans Saints football.

John Champagne, CPA

John joined Homrich Berg in 2017 after having served in a part-time capacity during 2016.  He works with the Investment Department and Family Office services on matters pertaining to alternative investments.  Prior to joining Homrich Berg, he served for over six years as COO/CCO for an Atlanta family office management firm where, among other duties, he had oversight responsibility for alternative investment fund of funds created for the client families.

His career began as a CPA with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (KPMG) where he managed audit accounts, both public and private, in real estate, transportation, agri-business, hospitality and manufacturing.  Thereafter, he served as CFO for several privately-held real estate development companies in Atlanta, GA and Hilton Head, SC in the multifamily, resort and commercial office sectors.  His work experience has also included financial consulting projects with a DOD footwear manufacturer, a design/distribution footwear company, several hotel entities, RTC workouts, residential bridge lender and a publicly-traded communications company.  These engagements were all multi-faceted and typically involved financing, accounting and reporting improvements.

He, along with his wife, Marcia, and other partners, started up a commercial travel business which they successfully sold 10 years later.  John and his wife also acquired and operated a wholesale food distribution business for over five years, exiting that through sale and liquidation.

John is a graduate of Lehigh University with a B.S. in Business Administration in Accounting and later obtained his CPA license.  He also served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.  He and his wife have been involved in community, church and school activities and live in Atlanta where their two married children, John and Margaret, and four grandchildren reside as well. They are inveterate travelers, enjoy golf, reading, food and wine.

Ford Donohue, CFA

Ford joined Homrich Berg in 2014 and currently leads our research and due diligence efforts in both hedge funds and equities.

Ford is the President and a Portfolio Manager of the Peachtree Alternative Strategies Fund, a fund of hedge funds originally created internally for HB clients who do not pay additional fees to utilize the Fund. In his role as President, Ford is in charge of managing the day to day operations of the Fund. In his role as Portfolio Manager, he leads the effort to source new investment ideas and leads the due diligence efforts on potential and existing portfolio investments. He has extensive experience in analyzing the various hedge fund strategies in which we invest including equity long/short, credit, macro, structured credit, and multi-strategy funds, among others.

In addition to managing hedge fund investments, Ford leads research and due diligence of both domestic and international equities. Ford covers both ETF and mutual fund investments in addition to managing a single stock portfolio. He is also extensively involved in the development of the firm’s long-term strategic portfolio construction and risk management process.

Ford began his career at Citigroup Global Markets with experience on both equity derivatives and fixed income markets. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Georgia. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Atlanta Society of Finance and Investment Professionals.
