Sam joined HB Wealth in January 2025 as a Senior Wealth Advisor and member of the private investments team after working with WMS Partners since August 2016. Sam works with numerous families on all aspects of their financial lives, including helping manage their investment portfolios, analyzing cash flows, advising on life and property insurance, and serving as a partner in the oversight of myriad other components of clients’ financial pictures. Having become a wealth manager from another profession (corporate lawyer), Sam prides himself on being an independent thinker when it comes to solving problems for clients. He finds himself equally comfortable explaining “words” (e.g., legal documents) to clients as he is walking clients through “numbers” (e.g., performance metrics).

Before joining HB Wealth, Sam was Vice President at Matheys Lane Capital Management L.P., a multi-family office based in Providence, Rhode Island. In 2021, Matheys Lane was purchased by SCS Financial, which is headquartered in Boston. During his six years at Matheys Lane, Sam worked with client families on all aspects of their balance sheets, investment portfolios, and estate plans; he also led the due diligence and monitoring processes in connection with all manner of private investment funds, including private equity funds, venture capital funds, and hedge funds. Prior to Matheys Lane, Sam was a practicing corporate attorney at Seward & Kissel LLP, a law firm in New York City. There, he represented hedge funds and investment advisers to hedge funds.

Since 2022, Sam has served on the Board of Trustees of the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) as a member of the BMA’s Investment Committee. Since 2023, he has served as the Chair of the Investment Committee.

Sam has a J.D. cum laude from Boston University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Haverford College. In addition, he is a member of the New York State Bar. Sam has passed Level II of the CFA examination.

In his spare time, Sam enjoys spending time with his wife (an elementary school music teacher) and two daughters. His hobbies include trying to read all the periodicals he subscribes to, running, watching a significant amount of men’s and women’s professional tennis, actually playing tennis, as well as fun trips and meals with his family. New York City, Paris, and Providence, Rhode Island, are some of his family’s favorites.
