Michael A. Woocher joined Homrich Berg in April 2024 as a Principal and Chief Advisory Officer. In this role, he will lead the firm’s accomplished group of financial advisors, position the firm for continued growth by developing its next generation of advisors, and attract and integrate new advisors related to future strategic hires and acquisitions. Michael will also stay directly connected to the client experience by advising a select group of HB Family Office client relationships.

Prior to joining HB, Michael was Managing Director at Bernstein Private Wealth Management from 2015-2024, leading its Atlanta office and serving as lead advisor for a small group of distinguished families. Michael was an executive and advisor at SunTrust Bank and GenSpring Family Offices, its ultra-high-net-worth family office affiliate, from 1997-2014, a tenure which included roles as President of GenSpring’s Buckhead Family Office and later as GenSpring’s Head of Client Development. Michael has been guiding wealthy families on investments, income and transfer tax planning, risk management, philanthropy and family engagement, governance, and communication for more than 25 years.

Michael graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He received his Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Georgia School of Law. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Michael is an active participant in the Atlanta community. He is a current Board Member and incoming Chair of the Endowment Committee of The Lovett School. He previously served on the Boards of the Atlanta History Center, the William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum, and the Friends of the First Tee of East Lake. He is a member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council and Fiduciary Section of the State Bar of Georgia.

Michael lives in Buckhead with his wife Katherine. They have four sons and a Golden Retriever named Herschel (Go Dawgs!). When not in the office, Michael enjoys time with his family as well as golf, fishing, cooking, and exploring small towns throughout the south.
